Gen-Probe believes NAT
assays can deliver more accurate results in a matter of
hours, thereby reducing potential contamination while
increasing customers’ process control.
To capitalize on the potential of this large, diverse market,
Gen-Probe has formed collaborations with General
Electric (GE), Millipore and 3M. All three partners have
leading market shares in their respective fields, as well
as the global sales and marketing capability to deliver
the Company’s NAT products to target customer segments.
Gen-Probe’s collaboration with GE is focused on developing
NAT assays that detect microorganisms in water.
GE provides specialty chemical treatment programs for
water and process systems in industrial, commercial and
institutional facilities. Initial testing of the collaboration’s
first prototype product was conducted in 2006, and
commercial sales are expected in 2008.
