Direct Tube Sampling (DTS) Systems
Overview:
Now more than ever, laboratories need testing solutions that are accurate,
efficient and economical. To achieve the greatest levels of accuracy,
testing solutions need to work seamlessly together. To meet this demand,
Gen-Probe has developed the family of DTS Systems. These systems include
the DTS 400, DTS 800 and DTS 1600. This is a full line of automated
solutions for low, medium and high-volume laboratories to be used with
the APTIMA® Assays (APTIMA COMBO 2®, APTIMA® CT and APTIMA®
GC) and other assays including AccuProbe® Group B Streptococcus
and GASDirect. This single integrated solution is helping more
and more laboratories improve workflow.
Along with the DTS Systems, the Gen-Probe family of technologies offers
significant advantages at every step in the testing process. Gen-Probe's
Transcription-Mediated Amplification (TMA) provides a new standard in
amplification reliability by targeting RNA or DNA sequences and generating
a billion fold in 15-30 minutes. The Hybridization Protection Assay
(HPA) uses a specific DNA probe that hybridizes with the nucleic acid
target to emit a chemiluminescent signal for ease of detection and differentiation.
In addition, the Dual Kinetic Assay (DKA) is an exclusive feature of
the APTIMA Combo 2 Assay and allows for the simultaneous detection and
differentiation of two analytes in a single specimen.
Use:
By combining exclusive Gen-Probe direct tube sampling (DTS) technology
with sample preparation, the target capture system and the detection
system, the DTS Systems offers laboratories the solution needed for
streamlining sample processing.
Features/Benefits:
DTS: Simplified Sample Processing
- The DTS family of systems uses an exclusive penetrable cap to
minimize contamination and results in safer, more convenient sample
removal. The design also reduces the time and effort required to
remove the cap and obtain swab samples from the tube. DTS simplifies
sample transport, minimizes handling and greatly reduces laboratory
cross-contamination.
- In addition, bar code technology simplifies the preparation of
worklists.
Sample Preparation System
- The Ten-Tube Unit (TTU) design and tube size reduces splash and
allows all reactions to take place in a single tube. The TTU rack
is used to transport TTU's from sample preparation through detection
helping to increase efficiency and enabling expandable workload
with minimal effort.
